Property Owners — How to get started

For Properties within the city of Grants Pass & Josephine County:

STEPP #1

  1. Contact the City of Grants Pass Community Development Department at 541-474-6355.
  2. Give them your Name and Construction Site Address.
  3. Ask them "Is my Construction Site Address located inside or outside the city limits or the urban growth boundary?"
  • If your Construction Site Address is inside the city limits or the urban growth boundary,
    • then the City of Grants Pass Community Development Department will have jurisdiction over your Project.
  • If your Constuction Site Address is outside the city limits or the urban growth boundary,
    • then the Josephine County Planning & Building Safety Department will have jurisdiciton over your project.

STEPP #2

  1. Go to either the City or County Planning Department for your Construction Site Address.
  2. Ask to speak to a "Planner" and explain to them what you would like to do with your Property.
  3. Take notes as the "Planner" explains the conditions regarding your Property.
  4. Ask the "Planner" if you can get a small print or map from their computer showing the outline of your Property and any underground utilities.
